My name is Haoyu Ren and I am in charge of editing the audio for my group - STUDIO manager. I think I did about 65% of the work on this project because we had some problems during the production of the audio. Although we had discussed the planning of the lines and the idea of whether to let the actors do the sound effects, we still had a lot of problems on the day of the recording. For example, I wasn't quite sure how the studio worked, so I didn't turn on the other set of microphones on the first take, which led to us having to re-dub the first time. Secondly, I was so nervous during the recording that I was rushed by the director when I was saving or creating tracks... Even my impromptu ideas during the pre-recording were rejected by the director, but in the end, I was able to record them at my insistence, as well as having the actors record alone on set several times. So this meant that something very embarrassing for the post-producer occurred when I tried to edit. I found that very few of the ones we recorded were complete sentences that I was happy with, and I had to operate on our material to be able to filter out every line that was the best out of that material.

This meant that I had to listen to the same line at least 10 times, and I was troubled by the actors' egos, for example, there were a few bits where Lisa started to take over before the audio guide had finished, which forced me to leave the whole conversation, which meant I had to make trade-offs with the SOLO. It was a very big project and made me realize that the pre-work must be done properly and the need to discuss every line will make the post-work possible with less work. Once I had finished editing all the lines I asked the director to come in and choose the best audio.
After discussing with the director, I was finally ready to cut the audio. I decided to mark down all the music that was needed in the lines.

After marking, I started to look for sound effects according to the requirements and my own ideas, in the search for music I was lucky to have a piece of audio that I had worn with my audio guide, which allowed me to quickly pinpoint a few classical pieces when looking for background music, and then added them to the SCENES 7 soundtrack, and found that the results were good, in addition to the BBC SOUND EFFECT The problem I had with Scenes 7 was at the climax, when Lisa felt she was in the moment, I kept adjusting the volume to achieve this effect, however I tried many times and found that if I turned up a certain sound it would cause the rest of the audio to become smaller, finally I had to try a compromise to solve this problem. I had to try a compromise to solve the problem.
As SCENES 8-9 are relatively small I considered cutting them as a whole piece, this section I think is also the one that gave me the most comfort as the plot is relatively normal with no ups and downs, the only thing I had to do was match the background music and vocals.
Finally SCENES10, again I would like to thank the actors for their play, the demon sound was really great, however to be honest I've been afraid to edit this section at night since I found a really scary sound effect, it was horrible. The sound of the demon walking on the floor was something I decided to record myself after looking for audio and not finding it, I just kept scraping my finger nails on the table to create it, our group didn't find it too jarring when they heard it.
Overall, the radio play is a team effort (personally, I think post still plays a big part) and it's important to work together in pre and post, and I was thinking about whether it's a good thing for the actors to play too much to themselves. Because this will greatly affect the work of screening the audio in post.
